Can I get a grant?
Grants are available for everyone, regardless
of income or status. For insulation, they
can be anything between 50% and 100% of
the cost of the work.
Will I have to pay something myself?
Householders on many types of benefit can
have all the work carried out free of charge.
Contact us for further details.
Why are grants available?
The Government want to help those on low
incomes to have affordable heating bills
and efficient up-to-date heating systems.
For those who can afford to pay, the Government
require Energy Suppliers to meet energy
saving targets to combat climate change.
The Suppliers are offering grants in order
to help them meet targets.
Are they genuine grants or is it a sales
gimmick?
Genuine grants - absolutely!! When we complete
the work, we invoice the Government or Energy
Supplier and they send us a cheque.
How do I claim a grant?
We do it all for you, including all the
paperwork. You only have to pay your contribution,
if any, on successful completion of the
work.
Is there a waiting time?
At present, no. We can usually process your
application in a short space of time. Claim
your grant now whilst these schemes are
available.
How much will it cost?
Much less than you think and much less than
the true value of the work.
Cavity Wall Insulation
How long does the job take?
The job is normally completed in under half
a day.
Will I be able to see where the holes
were drilled?
We make good and tidy up. The holes are
only an inch in diameter and are drilled
into the junction of horizontal and vertical
mortar joints. After filling the holes are
made good with matching mortar and blend
into the wall making them difficult to spot.
Rendered properties are colour matched.
Painted finishes will be touched up with
the same paint wherever possible.
Shouldn't my cavity be kept clear?
That used to be considered important. However,
fifty years evaluation of cavity wall systems
and their constant development has shown
that they can be insulated with confidence.
If your property is not suitable for treatment
we tell you before work begins.
What if something goes wrong?
In the unlikely event that there is a problem
with the work we will fix it free of charge.
Should we fail in our duty to you the customer
you can call on your independent 25 year
guarantee, which is backed with a multi-million
pound fund to insure against the risks of
any possible claims.
Loft Insulation
How long does the job take?
We can normally complete the work in a matter
of two hours. This includes the insulation
of all pipework and water storage tanks
in the loft to up-to-date standards to avoid
the risk of freezing.
I already have loft insulation. Why should
I have more?
It used to be considered enough to have
one inch of insulation in your loft! Nowadays,
the standard calls for almost a foot (270mm)!!
You should top up to the correct level if
you have 100mm or less installed at present.
Using modern methods, insulation is applied
between and over the top of joists to give
a complete seal which all but eliminates
heat loss.
Heating
Why
do I need to replace my boiler?
Unfortunately, boilers do not last for ever.
The useful working life is reckoned to be
15 years and older ones lose efficiency
and become prone to breakdown, usually during
those cold spells when you depend on your
system to keep the house comfortable. That's
the bad news: the good news is that modern
boilers are so much more efficient, quicker
to warm up, quieter in operation and cheaper
to run. Your investment will quickly pay
for itself.
What is a combi boiler?
A combi system does not have a hot water
tank. Mains pressure water is heated on
demand and directed to your hot taps.
What is a condensing boiler?
A condensing boiler pre-warms up the new
combustion air which is drawn through the
balanced flue, using the waste heat in the
flue gases. This heat recovery makes them
more efficient and cheaper to run. Cooling
the waste gases causes the water they contain
to condense out, hence the name.
